Illegal relocation of Bugoma Forest boundaries

The Association for Conservation of Bugoma Forest (ACBF) strongly condemns the ongoing actions by MZ agencies who have uprooted the original boundary pillars placed by the National Forestry Authority (NFA) and replaced them inside the forest, deliberately attempting to shift the official boundary of Bugoma Forest.

These pillars were placed to clearly mark the legal boundary of Bugoma Forest. Removing them and relocating them inside the forest is unacceptable and raises serious questions about who is trying to grab Bugoma Forest.

ACBF will not sit back and watch this happen. We will follow this process on the ground, and any pillars that have been illegally relocated inside the forest will be uprooted and removed because they do not represent the true boundary of Bugoma Forest.

We call upon the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development to immediately intervene and ensure that the original and lawful boundaries of Bugoma Forest are respected, as the Minister previously promised.

Bugoma Forest is not for grabbing. It must be protected for wildlife, tourism, climate protection, and the communities that depend on it.
