The Association for Conservation of Bugoma Forest (ACBF) is pleased to provide this update on our ongoing projects. Our initiatives aim to promote sustainable livelihoods, conserve the environment and protect endangered species.
- Progress: Successful harvest between May and August 2024, yielding 370 kg (260 liters) of honey.
- Increase: More than double the 2023 harvest (160 kg).
- Beneficiaries: 25 farmers.
- Project Coordinator: Isaac Tugume (monthly fee paid by ACBF).
- Next Step: Secure market for honey.
2. Sunnseeds Project

3. Chimp T-RAP Patrolling
- Progress: Ongoing despite lack of police support.
- Staff: 4 patrollers reporting illegal logging and charcoal burning/trade.
- Challenges: Regional police commander halted police involvement.
4. Every 5 Acres Project
- Land acquisition: 8 acres purchased (February and September 2024) at 8,000,000 shillings/acre.
- Funding: Contributions from Mokoro Tours CHUI-Tours afrika safaris GmbH and @Insafaris
- Planting and measuring of trees and calculation of carbon emmissions offsetting is on going and Supervised by Phoresta (Italy); on ground the project is managed by Bwambale Laban Paid by ACBF.
- Carbon emissions offsetting measurement initiated in April 2024.
Conclusion
ACBF’s projects demonstrate significant progress, despite challenges. We appreciate members, donor support and commitment from our coordinators, farmers and staff. Our focus remains on sustainable development, conservation and community engagement.
